H a p p i n e s s

I’m trying to focus on the little things that make me happy, I’ve found recently that I’ve been really stressed out as of late and have overall been a bit negative and just not myself, which is really sad.
I kind of wanted to make this little post to remind myself of the things that do make me smile, so that if and when I do find myself in a little rut again, I can bring myself back to this post, to remind myself of the happy bits.

+ My hair has been through a lot but it’s just very happy and looks after itself, I’ve recently dyed it ginger and it’s doing a good job of keeping the colour, it’s just very happy hair
+ All of my plants make me super happy and my mantle piece too, we’ve got a nice little set up going on, also the plants are very happy little beings, also I’ve had these peonies for nearly a week now and they just make me smile too, plants and flowers make me a very happy girl.
+ Happy friends and family make me smile, also Elliot does too, am really trying to avoid the negatives, so just surrounding myself with lovely people.

It’s all very simple and there’s definitely more but these are just a few I wanted to share.

January day trips

Having the week off work means staying in bed past 9 (which is late for me) and going on week or day trips, we were both pretty skint after Christmas and my birthday, so a couple of day trips worked a treat.

First we got a super early coach to London, I’d say my highlight from London was finally going into Cereal killer cafe, I fell in love with the interior as well as the sweet breakfast focused menu, so dreamy.

We then popped over to Bristol to get photos developed, but stopped by You&meow (Bristol’s cat cafe) and I was in heaven, it was the best! We also walked some routes we hadn’t gone before and discovered some really picturesque areas.

This is pretty much all the productive things I’ve done this week, the rest has consisted of naps, tea and laundry.

Thanks for the read!

Hello, 2018

For 2018 I really don’t have anything major planned, but I know I have a few things set that I want to keep here as a constant nudge to keep going at it.

1. Move houses, when me my boyfriend and our friend first got this flat, it was everything we wanted and needed at the time, a year and a few months have passed since and it just feels right for myself and Elliot to do the adult thing and move into our first home together, just us two, no one else.
2. Go back to loving my job, recently I’ve been getting extremely stressed due to my job and I really want to go back to just enjoying it while also getting everything done.
3. Be healthier, with the food I’m eating as well as exercising, just overall a healthier happier person.
4. Spend more time focusing on things I enjoy, whether that’s writing more on this blog or just watching/reading stuff I really like.
5. Save money, just save so much money.

Nothing really groundbreaking, but if I can at least follow these simple things, then I know I’m going to love 2018.

Thanks for the read!

2017

Bye 2017

2017 was a pretty decent year for me, I had a surprise trip to Edinburgh right at the start of the year for my birthday, got a job promotion, went to Holland in the summer with my boyfriend and some friends, which was just amazing, had a couple of day trips to Brighton.
But also just the evenings with friends & family has been really special.
I look forward to see what 2018 brings, thanks for reading. :)

Living a cruelty free life

Choosing to go cruelty free is one of the best & hardest things I've done.
Having to decide to ditch everything I knew and starting fresh was the hardest part.
Going cruelty free was something I had been thinking about for a while on and off before I finally decided to commit to it & I've now been doing it for over 3 years.

Some things to consider when going Cruelty free;
+ Do lots of research, and research a brand several times, so many times I have done a quick search, seeing that they are 'creulty free' then going back to do more research and finding out that they are in fact not.
+ Figure out where you stand when it comes to Parent Companies, for example, The Body shop who are cruelty free, being owned by L'Oreal, who aren't cruelty free.
+ Accepting the fact that sometimes, it might not be as cheap as you would like, but you're doing it for a good cause. (Also, you can get some amazing bargains)
+ Don't make people feel bad for not feeling the same as you do about animal testing. Yeah it's cruel, but if someone chooses to buy into products that aren't cruelty free, that's their decision.
+ Do be helpful and knowledgeable for those who do want to learn more.

Home

My home is my favourite place, once i'm home it's hard to get me back out. (unless i'm going to work, still need to pay the bills) It's definitely not perfect, it's only a little flat and a few things don't really have a home, but it has all my favourite things & my favourite person.
Top 3 favourite bits;
+ My record stand, player & collection.
+ Our bed;- Our bedding, our wall hanging, our fairy lights hanging from the wall hanging.
+ My plants;- My cheese plant, my umbrella plant, my string of pearls, all of my succulents & cacti.

Autumn

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year, (after Christmas, cause i'm a child) the leafs are crunchy and orange, I really enjoy layering up, it's also appropriate to start lighting candles & it starts getting so foggy & crisp in the mornings.
Also, photography in Autumn is so much better.
